Who collects larger quantities of used oil materials?
A Collector listed in the “list of collectors” will collect large quantities of used oil materials.
A collector is a firm registered with SOGHU to collect used oil materials covered by the Regulation respecting the recovery and reclamation of used oils, oil or fluid containers and used filters from large generators and collection facilities and deliver them to processors approved by SOGHU.
SOGHU's program provides incentives (Return Incentives or RIs) to collectors from the private sector, according to the different zones in the province of Quebec. The financing of these subsidies comes from the (Environmental Handling Charges) EHCs paid by brand owners or first importers into Quebec on their sales of the products covered by the Regulation.
What documentation do I need in order to register as a SOGHU Collector?
It is important to read through
the Collectors and Processors Manual to fully understand the program.
This manual, along with all of the necessary documents to register, can be
found on the bottom right of this page in PDF format.
To register as a SOGHU
Collector, you must send the following items to SOGHU:
a) the Collector
Registration Form and all of the documents outlined therein
b) 2 copies of the Collectors
Agreement, signed, dated and initialled on every page.
c) the Collectors
Registration Questionnaire completed, signed and dated
d) a cheque for $225.75 ($200
plus GST and QST).
Important note: Original signatures are
required so only registrations that are sent via mail are accepted.
SOGHU will examine the information received and will schedule an
appointment with the registrant. Following the meeting, if all is in order, the
registrant will be presented with a registration certificate along with a copy
of their Collectors Agreement signed by SOGHU. All Collectors registered with
SOGHU appear on the website with the products that they collect and their zones
of activity.
What documentation do I need to complete in order to register with SOGHU
as an Internal Collector-Processor?
In
the case of a registration for an Internal Collector-Processor, SOGHU requires
all of the documents required for a Collector registration AND
all those for the Processor registration.
SOGHU will examine the
documents and if all is in order, SOGHU will forward the registration
certificate to the registrant along with a copy of the Agreements (Collectors
and Processors) signed by SOGHU.
Internal Collector-Processors do not appear on
SOGHU’s website.
Collection Facilities
An important priority for SOGHU is the implementation of a network of collection facilities throughout Quebec, with specific objectives outlined in the agreement with RECYC-QUÉBEC. SOGHU will attempt to improve the existing network and will enroll collection facilities in areas with inadequate coverage. For this, we rely on our Collectors to help us spread the word. We remind everyone that this drop-off service is offered to the public free of charge.
Thank you to all of our Collectors who have helped us expand this very important program and who continue to register new Collection Facilities.
